The Welcoming Net – Script

[At 6:58pm]

Two minutes until The Welcoming Net.

This is YOUR NAME & CALL standing by for net.

[At 7:00pm]

Good Evening! This is YOUR NAME & CALL, transmitting from YOUR LOCATION.  Today is Tuesday, DATE, and I am your net control operator for this edition of The Welcoming Net.

This net runs every Tuesday evening at 7PM to provide a friendly and welcoming place for all hams to come together and build community. Whether you are brand new to our hobby, a seasoned radio operator, or anywhere in-between, we invite you to say hello and share your thoughts with us.

This net is dedicated to the memory of dB Baker, WA3DB (Silent Key), whose friendly and welcoming net hosting here on these repeaters deeply touched the lives of many.

This is a directed net, so all calls will come through me. This net is open to all stations holding a valid Amateur Radio License, and we welcome third-party traffic. Our club’s website, lakewashingtonhamclub.org, has all the information you’ll need to get into our repeaters.

We hope to hear from many hams this evening. When I ask for check-ins, please come ahead with your callsign and name, one at a time. After building a round of check-ins, I’ll return to each station to give a report, and will build additional rounds thereafter. Before keying up and giving your report, please wait for the repeater to drop the carrier. You will hear the courtesy tones and then 2 seconds later, the carrier will drop. I’ll demonstrate this now.

Please limit your transmit time to 3-minutes, as that’s when our repeaters time out.  You can see how long you have been transmitting by watching the Real-Time Monitor on our club’s website, under the Repeaters tab. When you’re done with your report, please sign off using your call sign. This is to comply with FCC regulations and to let me know you’re done with your report.

Finally, the Welcoming Net is a great place for new hams to make their first contact. If this is your first contact this evening, please let me know, and I will be sure to get a First Contact Award to you.

I will take check-ins now one at a time.  Please come ahead now with your name and call.

[PROVIDE ANNOUNCEMENTS, between 1st and 2nd rounds is preferred. Please use the main page of our club website for guidance on upcoming events.]

Closing:

Thank you to all #       participants who checked in and gave reports. Make sure to check out our club’s website, lakewashingtonhamclub.org, to stay up to date with our upcoming activities and nets.
