Joining our online community

Lake Washington Ham Club is a friendly community for amateur radio enthusiasts to learn, have fun, and make friends. If you're not yet licensed, that's okay – when you're ready we'll help you get there.

The more you put into the community, the more you'll get out of it. We maintain this website, host regular online and in person meetings, and maintain email groups to help you stay informed and connect with others.

Join our email community

Send an email to main+subscribe@lwhc.groups.io to join our overall email community. The board uses this group to communicate important information such as upcoming meetings or special events. Typically, you'll receive fewer than 5 mails a month. You must join this group to join any of the subgroups listed below.

Join community-wide discussions

Send an email to discuss+subscribe@lwhc.groups.io to join our general discussion group.  Joining in helps you stay informed about impromptu activities, tips, and general discussion. Conversations should focus on club activities or radio topics, remain respectful, and avoid strong language. Private sales within the community are fine, but don't spam or send irrelevant messages to the group.

Our community values inclusivity and support. We promptly address any issues to maintain a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

In amateur radio, all frequencies are shared and are available for the benefit of everyone regardless of race, religion, gender, gender expression, age, disability, or sexual orientation. Lake Washington Ham Club's mission is to create a positive and welcoming environment for all amateur radio operators and enthusiasts where everyone can learn, enjoy the hobby, explore new challenges, and build life-long friendships. As such, we show respect to one another as peers and conduct ourselves to earn that respect at all times.

Typically, this group averages 1-2 emails a day which you can adjust to control the frequency and quantity of email you receive.

Geek out about rare, distant, or special event stations

Send an email to dxspots+subscribe@lwhc.groups.io to join us discussing rare stations, distant stations, or special event stations. Examples here are "DX" stations, Summits on the Air activations, Parks on the Air activations, and other special event stations that go on the air from time to time. Often, this information is very time sensitive as conditions and operator plans change.

We also have a club league on ClubLog that you are encouraged to join and information on HF conditions.

Using our repeater network

  • Our website is the main source of information for the club. From there you can find information about our network of repeaters providing excellent coverage across the area.

📅
We have a variety of nets including our daily 11am net that can be found on the club calendar. Evening nets are held at other times of the day throughout the week.

Monthly meetings

Our monthly meetings are held primarily over Zoom on the second Saturday of the month from 9-11am. During the milder months, we also have monthly in-person meetings at area parks called Rain or Shine nets. These are usually on the third Saturday of the month from 8:30-12am.

Our club website, and groups.io groups have announcements for many of these events, but it is best to check the website and calendar from time to time as well.

Volunteering and Other information

If you have an interest in volunteering, please let us know! We are always looking for people with a passion who are willing to get involved. The level of commitment is up to you, so don’t worry.

Finally, if you have any lingering questions that we have not answered here, please send mail to the Lake Washington Ham Club board at board@lwhc.groups.io or email us at k7lwh@lakewashingtonhamclub.org for any questions or additional information you may need.
