New Member Orientation

Welcome to the Lake Washington Ham Club! Here are some quick tips to help you get started:

👋
Discussion - General discussion for the club community.
🌐
DX/SOTA/POTA - Spots and discussions about rare stations, distant stations or special event stations. We also have a club league on ClubLog that you are encouraged to join and information on HF conditions.
  • Our website is the main source of information for the club. From there you can find information about our network of repeaters providing excellent coverage across the area.

📅
We have a variety of nets including our daily 11am net that can be found on the club calendar. Evening nets are held at other times of the day throughout the week.
  • Our monthly meetings are held over Zoom, with occasional in-person meetings at Rain or Shine nets in area parks. Our club website, and groups.io groups have announcements for many of these events, but it is best to check the website and calendar from time to time as well.

If you have an interest in volunteering please let us know! We are always looking for people with a passion who are willing to get involved. The level of commitment is up to you, so don’t worry.

If you have any questions or topics of discussion to offer, our club members are outgoing and can help with nearly any question you might have on the discussion list discuss@lwhc.groups.io. Please bear in mind the club’s guiding principles and avoid non-inclusive references and outmoded slang (OM, YL, XYL) that reinforces stereotypes.

In amateur radio, all frequencies are shared and are available for the benefit of everyone regardless of race, religion, gender, gender expression, age, disability, or sexual orientation. Lake Washington Ham Club's mission is to create a positive and welcoming environment for all amateur radio operators and enthusiasts where everyone can learn, enjoy the hobby, explore new challenges, and build life-long friendships. As such, we show respect to one another as peers and conduct ourselves to earn that respect at all times.

Finally, if you have any lingering questions that we have not answered here, please send mail to the Lake Washington Ham Club board at board@lwhc.groups.io or email us at k7lwh@lakewashingtonhamclub.org for any questions or additional information you may need.

Welcome!
