    2010 Amateur Radio Class

CLASS: Mr. Condon, KI7YP, and Mr. Schurman, AA7UJ and guest instructors are teaching a two weekend FCC amateur radio class (Technician Class) to students and parents.  A technician class license allows amateurs to use radio frequencies for emergency communications, family communications, personal technology growth, and to make many new friends worldwide.

The class will be offered to “learning teams.”  A “learning team” will be made up of a parent and a student. More family members can be part of the learning group at no additional charges other than the testing fees.  Boy Scout and Girl Scout learning teams are considered to be a Scout leader and four Boy or Girl Scouts.

COST: The charge for the class is $58 per learning team.   The money goes for the purchase of an ARRL “Ham Radio License Manual” textbook, one per “learning team” which the team gets to keep.  In addition some of the money will be used to cover the cost of paper and copying charges for handouts.  Additionally, there will be a $15 per individual testing fee payable to the FCC examiners at the time of the final exam.

TIME AND PLACE: 

Time: 9:00 AM-12:00 NOON

Class sessions on 24 April and 1 May,

exam sessions on 8 May. 

Exam session one 8:30-10:30 AM
Exam session two 11:00-1:00 PM
 

Closing date for registration is 1 April.
